The forecast was not too flattering with the chance of a storm late in the day and winds freshening to 20-30 Knots from the NE. Despite this, Tom, Andrew, Sergio and Steve converged on the Mooloolaba Spit for the paddle north to Mudjimba Island. The eye candy was nothing special as we launched into a light NW breeze and we had an uneventful paddle to Cotton Tree. We arrived near low tide and the Maroochy River was flowing quite swiftly. We dodged through the jet skies playing amongst the breakers and landed on the SW corner of Pincushion Island where we had an early lunch.
The breeze was freshening and we decided not to venture further north but retraced our steps back to Mooloolaba Spit where Tom managed to take an unplanned swim when it should have been the gentlest of landings. We had a swim and helped Andrew practice his roll in Tom's raider X. Sergio joined Andrew playing in the gentle surf while Tom and Steve took an early mark. The wind was freshening but had not made the 30 kts by the time we left. A very leisurely social paddle easing back into it after yet another forced layoff.
