The weekend forecast was not too flattering with strong wind warnings and rain forecast on Saturday, possibly clearing Sunday. Mark and Sue were to join Dave at Munna Pt on Friday evening but car trouble prevented them. They eventually made an early start on Saturday and were
joined by Nev. This four headed up river as Tom arrived and he waited for Kylie and Steve before making camp (in the dry) and then heading off in pursuit of the others. With a strong following breeze we made good time to Johns Landing for lunch but the following group missed the others as they slipped around the island at the north of the Lake Cooroibah channel under cover of a rain squall on the return journey.
The return into the wind was not too difficult and with a brief stop at Tewantin we were met at Munna Pt by more rain and the lead group well and truly set up and into sundowners. Mark and Sue had erected a shelter area that we used as our community
kitchen and venue for Kylie's birthday party. The Champaign, red wine and Southern Comfort flowed a little too freely and Mark again entertained with torch gadgets. The stories behind the new Mirage dealership kept everyone amused.
Sunday morning brought much improved conditions and we decided to head out to the Noosa River bar. Dave was having back trouble and pulled out. The conditions did not suite everyone and Nev had rudder trouble with his new boat so we did not all cross into open water. Tom did, but on the return crossing experienced an un-ceremonial dumping. Steve and Kylie provide an assisted rescue and the group subsequently played in the river mouth or explored the area for a while before enjoying a relaxing morning tea on the beach at Noosa Inlet. The bush turkey and dogs provided stiff competition for the food.
Some explored the canal houses and Weyba Creek on the return to Munna Pt for a well earned wash down and picnic lunch. A fun trip, despite Saturday's weather and the anti-social behaviour of the campsite manager.
