A weekend is not a weekend without some time on the water. With the Linville to Blackbutt Rail Trail ride on Sunday, we decided to go for a short Saturday afternoon paddle on the river.
We left from Norman Creek at the Heath Park Boat Ramp following two other paddlers who also live nearby. Some of the house boats in the creek weren't looking too habitable. At the mouth we turned into the beginning of a run out tide. There was enough water to slip in behind the floating walkway which connects Sydney St to just below the Story Bridge. It was dull and overcast, the city grey and unphotogenic.
After passing the tourists sploshing around in the path of the cross river ferries Mark spied a bearded dragon quietly sunning itself in the crook of an old bridge footing just before the Captain Cook Bridge. At the bridge I decided it was time to turn
around for a quick trot back on the ebb tide.
