The forecast was for light winds and isolated showers but this did not deter 10 paddlers from assembling at Wellington Point for a leisurely paddle to St Helena Is.We launched at 9:00 AM with warm, near clear blue
skies, mill pond conditions and crystal clear water. The tide was still going out and we had to skirt the shoals around King and Green Islands to the east
At the northern point of Green Is, Mark suggested we circumnavigate St Helena before lunching at the jetty. We were
quickly on our way across to the eastern shoals and around North Pt where we met a large pod of dolphins. One was being quite acrobatic with a few jumps.
We stopped on the beach to the south of the jetty and by now the light cloud cover was almost complete and we had a very brief and light shower while we dined. Patrick joined us shortly after we had completed lunch and paddled back to Green Is before heading off on his own. The rain held off for the return journey and by now the swell had built up to at least 6 - 8 inches. When we arrived back at Wellington Pt the land bridge to King Island was still open.
After loading the kayaks a small group took coffee at the cafe on the point before heading home.
