Another beautiful morning had three of us heading down to Caniapa at the beginning of the run out tide. Looking back the southern side of Blakesleys was wall to wall campsites and there were even more yachts and cruisers moored overnight.
Two kayaks were already beached at Caniapa, turned out to be Christine and Graeme picking our numbers up to five again. Up on the level area in the shade having morning tea was we met our first midges of the weekend. A short walk up a steep dune had a great lookout over Russell Island with other tracks suggestive of more interesting walks. Once again no signage to indicate restricted access.
From here we headed across to Karragarra for lunch in the park seeing a dolphin along the way. Around Caniapa the area smelt of diesel fumes from the constant parade of large cruisers. Around Karragarra the ferry traffic was incessant and it amazes me that you ever see any marine life in this part of the bay.
After a late lunch we split with Christine and Graeme heading towards the Ws for Redland Bay. We continued up towards Coochie where it seemed like we almost had to land on Coochie
before turning left to avoid the sand bar and mud bank.
The sun was sinking quickly and the glare very strong as we headed due west picking up some lift from the NE breeze. It
certainly seemed longer than 12Km from Karragarra by the time we pulled up on the muddy sand at Point O'Halloran. All the other cars had gone and we were the last off the field in a great weekend of tag paddling.
